War Thunder realistic mode: gliding and (possibly) the best landing ever made
Nearly 20 kilometers of gliding for losing only ~1 kilometer of altitude, then full 4 seconds of gliding horizontally at 60 meters altitude, then soft landing to the runway being at 59 meters altitude. This is thus one perfect gliding run in Pilotage map - can't get better.
This proves once again that possibility to get real flying skills in a computer simulator - exists: this landing, i wasn't trying to make perfect on purpose, i was just enjoying gliding and flying and landing a plane.
With (much) experience, one starts to _feel_ the machine when using joystick controls to directly control plane's surfaces, and the plane becomes sort of continuation of one's own body; then things like this landing simply start to happen.
20 kilometers figure comes from simple math: average gliding speed as indicated - slightly above 300 km/h; gliding duration - 4 minutes; so 300 * 4 / 60 = 20 kilometers distance.
This is one exceptional value for any combat aircraft of both WW2 era, and present day. Very few fighters can achieve this awesome gliding efficiency, but P-63A-10 cobra - can do that.
If you'll want to try this gliding run in Pilotage map: don't be surprised if you can't repeat this in some other plane, it's expected for most of 'em. And even with this cobra, it's not so easy to make this specific gliding run; for example, if you won't feather your prop, then it'll do extra air resistance and you won't make it to that runway. You also need right speed and extremely jentle steering to save every last bit of energy you got, if you shut your engine right after spawning in there air spawn point of the Pilotage map. And some luck to spawn in right direction - you won't have the luxury to afford any big turn, if you want to reach that runway. :)
