Learning About Animals with Farmer For Fun

We have a lot of fruit that's fallen from the trees after some high winds recently - mostly apples and pears. We've been able to enjoy some (to eat and to make wine and cider) but there's just so much fruit and a lot of it is ending up in the compost.

In the future we will feed as much of this as we can to our animals. But we don't have those yet.

So, to kill two birds with one stone (or kill two flies with one smack as Kylie says) we decided to reach out to someone we know who does have animals. The plan was to give them some of our windfall fruit and take the opportunity to ask them some questions about what it's like to raise animals in Portugal. So we took a trip to Fundão to meet a real farmer – and fellow YouTuber – Joseph Marsh: @Farmer For Fun

Before making this video we asked our neighbours if their chickens or goats would like some of the fruit but they said their animals don't eat it.

My name’s Guy. My wife Kylie and I bought an abandoned stone farmhouse and ¾ acre of land in the autumn of 2020 and have been slowly (but surely) restoring it and bringing it back to its former glory. We're renovating the house (doing most of the work ourselves) and rejuvenating the land. We're currently growing a range of crops and one day plan to raise animals with a goal of building a semi-self-sufficient homestead.
