Kliuchevskoi Volcano Erupting Ash Cloud and Lava Flow, 18. October 2013

Eruption of Kliuchevskoi (Klyuchevskoy) volcano, Kamchatka, on 18. October 2013. Strombolian activity from the summit vent produces an ash cloud and a lava flow descends the west flank of the volcano. Persistent rockfalls appear to be generating an ash cloud on the flank of the volcano.
Activity was only visible for a few minutes between meteorological clouds, which obscured the view to the volcano for the rest of the day. Distance to the 4750 meter high volcano was about 20km, thus eruption is not audible. Closer approach was hampered by winter weather conditions.
