Ever wanted to get that jazzy chord sound from your guitar? Learn how to extend and alter the dominant chord (sometimes called the 5 or V chord) with those tense and rich jazz tones. It sounds more complicated than it practically is!
In this lesson, we look at extended dominant chords, such as 9th and 13th chords, and the more tense altered chords such as augmented, flat 9 and sharp 9 chords.
This is a great place to begin with comping in jazz, as I take you through the most commonly used sequence in jazz (2 5 1) plus some tips on how more advanced compers create their sound and move across the neck fluidly.
