How to measure blood pressure (step-by-step) at home using sphygmomanometer i.e. how to check blood pressure - bp measurement detailed to the professional level.
I've shown how to measure blood pressure at home using sphygmomanometer (bp machine) so that even if you're beginner, you'll get professional accuracy in no time (please watch in at least 360p as even whole video at 720p is just 48MB).

2:12 Types - Sphygmomanometers are of 3 types - mercury, aneroid and digital/automatic.

3:11 How it works? First you need to close this valve. Now alternately squeeze the rubber bulb to fill air in the cuff. Then air travels through this connecting tube to the cuff and then through this tube to the mercury tank. Air puts pressure on mercury which then rises in this graduated glass tube.

Part-B How to measure Blood Pressure? Correct ways to 3:42
I. Position the individual 4:54 It's best if the individual whose BP you want to measure is lying down but often it's not possible so we measure BP even if the patient is sitting. But the point is - his/her hand should be at level with the heart. Hand should be almost straight. Whether you use his/her right or left hand for wrapping cuff doesn't matter at all.
II. Wrap the cuff 5:35 Take the Sphygmomanometer cuff. Notice if there's air inside. If it's present then press the cuff to deflate it completely. Now wrap it on upper arm. But please notice that the center of the cuff, or so to say, the tubes, should be above or on the inner side of the arm. Cuff should be about 1" above the elbow crease. It shouldn't be too tightly or too loosely wrapped. (in between the arm and cuff, if your little finger too can't get in, that means cuff has been too tightly wrapped and if more than three fingers fits in, it means cuff's too loose.)
III. Place the stetho 6:40 For measuring BP, we utilize 'Brachial artery" which goes along the inner side of the biceps near the elbow and supplies the whole hand. Now wear the stethoscope and keep its chest-piece right over here (shown in video).
IV. Get the reading! 6:59 Now take the rubber bulb on your other hand, close the valve and inflate the cuff. From now on, you should be concentrating on just two things - 1. Eyes - On the mercury level 2. Ears - Whether you are hearing anything or not.
If you're using Sphygmomanometer for the first time, I've exclusively shown a thing in video (please watch it to understand better).
Now, first raise the mercury level upto 160 or 170 mm (If his/her age is more than 50 years or is suffering from hypertension/high BP then raise upto 200 mm Hg.) Now slightly open the valve so that mercury level falls @2-4 mm Hg or 1-2 markings. The level right at which you'll start hearing sounds...NOTE IT. That is SBP. Mercury is continuously falling. Sound will grow first louder then will become faint And right at the level at which sound disappears...NOTE IT. This is DBP. Now fully open the valve. You've obtained the BP reading! Congratulations!!!

Part-C Which sphygmomanometer should you buy? 8:50
Mercury - 👍 standard, durable, easy to read; 👎 bulky, must be kept upright on a flat surface during measurement
Aneroid - 👍 cheap, lightweight; 👎 needs calibration at least once a year, delicate
Digital/Automatic - 👍 no need of stethoscope, much less manual dexterity required, portable; 👎 expensive, least accurate of the three types
