Being an Entrepreneur simply isn’t for the faint of heart. Becoming one goes against pretty much everything we’re ever taught in school and leaving the comfort of a paycheck, health insurance, and going completely against the grain of society is very challenging. Yet, around 600,000 new small businesses open every year. And I contend that one of the key characteristics to being a successful Entrepreneur is….delusion. And today I’m going to explain why that is.

• Entrepreneurs think every idea will be wildly successful
- Most of them aren’t
- For every 1 successful website, I’ve had 4 unsuccessful ones

• After failing, we go right back at it
- Common thread among entrepreneurs is failure is normal
- Yet we continually make new business and plans
- Deal with failure by falling down, hurting, then trying again

• Every project we start, we imagine selling for millions later
- SaaS company I started
- Planned so much
- Failed (Due to too much planning, not execution)

• Delusion is crucial to successful Entrepreneurs
- Every business needs to be a grand slam in theory
- I lose sleep over new business ideas..more so fantasizing about how big they can be
- Time and time again I’ve done this, and over and over I’ve failed….but continue.

• Why Do Good Entrepreneurs continue?
- We’re delusional
- Because we know not every idea is a winner.
- Because we believe every idea is a grand slam
- Because we can’t fathom working for an employer
“Entrepreneurs are willing to work 80 hours a week to avoid working 40 hours a week.”
- Because we want to control our career
- Because we want freedom
