Wilted Lettuce Salad, For Bacon Lovers Everywhere

Today we had lots of bacon that needed to be cooked and a beautiful head of lettuce in the garden. Put the two together and what do you have? A Wilted Lettuce Salad. (not sandwich) like I kept saying.

RECIPE:
WILTED LETTUCE SALAD
Wilted Lettuce Salad
Combine the following
SALAD GREENS WASHED AND DRAINED (YOUR CHOICE)
SLICED RED ONION OR GREEN ONIONS
SALT AND PEPPER GREENS
TOMATO SLICES OPTIONAL
BACON PIECES (IF EATING IMMEDIATELY) OTHERWISE THEY TURN TO MUSH
WHEN WET FOR A WHILE THE DRESSING
Dressing:
1/2 BACON GREASE
1/2 CUP WHITE VINEGAR
1/4 CUP WATER
1 TBSP. SUGAR (ADD EXTRA TSP. MY PREFERENCE)
Combine the warm (or hot) grease with the dressing Ingredients: This recipe is printable on our website here: https://collardvalleycooks.com/print-recipes. Mixture should be warm enough to melt the sugar. Mix well and pour over greens. Eat with crusty bread!
We used sourdough today.
