High pressure to the north keeps things largely dry today with patchy showers drifting south from Scotland into northern England, locally heavier over hills, while most of Wales, southern England and Northern Ireland stay dry with sunny spells and highs in the mid teens in the west, cooler in the east with an increasing easterly breeze. Tonight, showers fade over northern areas, though a little light rain may edge into eastern regions later, with clearer skies in the south and west, brisker winds near eastern coasts, and temperatures dipping close to freezing in sheltered western spots by dawn.
