Churchill And Roosevelt Christmas Speech (1941)

Unused / unissued material - dates unclear or unknown.
Washington DC, United States of American (USA).
View out from the White House. Dark shots from side of American President Franklin D Roosevelt speaking into microphones. He lights the Washington Christmas Tree and then he starts his speech: 'Fellow workers for peace' and goes on to say 'It is hard to feel the spirit of Christmas with the county at war and so many families away, but the new year of 1942 we are sure of victory with the extra effort of old and young. With sons and brothers in mind serving overseas, we light our Christmas candles across the land. We have joined many lands and peoples in this fight for the defence of good. One of their great leaders stands beside me (Churchill) and he and his people have pointed the way for little children everywhere to enjoy Christmas. And now I ask my good friend to say a few words to the people of America. Winston Churchill Prime Minister of Great Britain."
Winston Churchill from side speaking into microphones. He starts his speech: "Fellow workers for the cause of freedom" and goes on to say "I am spending this festival far from my country and family yet I can't say I feel far from home. I don't know if it is the blood ties on my mother's side or the friends I have made here over the years. Fellow workers and soldiers, ill it would be if our cause was not just, but for tonight let's make happiness for the children and cast aside the cares and dangers for this night at least before we turn to the stern task of the year ahead, so allowing these children the right to live in a free world and so a Happy Christmas to you all".

N.B. These are not the full speeches - there are some cuts. These speeches were made in December 1941.
