The Amazon Rainforest | Travel Vlog | Ecuador Series, ep. 5

Today we set off from our ecolodge to explore more of the Amazon. We head about an hour down the Cuyabeno River to visit a village called Siona Tarabeaya where we learn about one of the indigenous communities. On our way there we pull our canoe ashore to take an amazing walk in the jungle where we see a very old and unique tree.

At the village we learn a bit of the language, taste some of the local fruits and veg’, and help harvest the yuca that we’ll use to make yuca bread. We’re joined by the village Shaman and we learn about traditional medicine, try an alcoholic medicinal beverage, some aromatherapy, and Andie even offers herself up for a treatment!

Only 2% of the Amazon Jungle is in Ecuador, and part of that is in the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve, which is where we visited during our Ecuador trip. It was our first visit to the world's largest rainforest, and we already can't wait to go back and see more!

This is the fifth video in our first-ever international series! #Quito, Ecuador was the first international trip we took together back in 2011. Eleven years later, it’s where we filmed our first international series and first drone footage for our channel!

We spent two weeks in Ecuador this time, including Quito, day-trips to Mindo and Cotopaxi National Park, the #Amazon, and one of our top-3 bucket list destinations: the Galápagos Islands!
