This really is compact but it still does everything that you would expect from a professional Tripod. You have the tilt and pan along with the ability to flip the camera to the portrait setting instead of the landscape. You still have the hand crank for slight adjustment to height (a little stiff at first)without having to mess with the legs, although the legs are very easy and quick to adjust. There is a bubble level on it level on it and the all needed quick release system for when you want to take the camera off the tripod an snap one off with out dismantling it first.
