The USCGC Blackthorn Collision

On the 28th of January 1980 the USCGC Blackthorn collided with the SS Capricorn and would go down with nearly half her crew. This would be the worst peacetime disaster in Coast Guard history. But why did it happen, in a service dedicated to safety of life at sea, how could so much go wrong. Learn what series of events lead to the disaster and just how the event changed Coast Guard policy to this day.
