DAS TRAGISCHE SCHICKSAL DER BRÜDER: ein verlassenes Herrenhaus VOLLER ERINNERUNGEN 🔎 Lost Place

Wir kehren zurück nach Belgien, wo wir letztes Jahr an Pfingsten sechs wirklich großartige verlassene Orte besuchen durften. Unsere Reise beginnt in einem kleinen Städtchen in den Ardennen, wo ein altes Herrenhaus die bewegende Geschichte eines Brüderpaares erzählt …

Das Gebäude stammt vermutlich aus dem 19. Jahrhundert und war jahrzehntelang der Sitz einer Adelsfamilie mit 8 Kindern. In Urbexkreisen ist das Herrenhaus unter dem Namen „Manoir aux Portraits“ bekannt, was nicht weiter verwunderlich ist, wenn man die Vielzahl an Bildnissen betrachtet, die im ganzen Gebäude noch immer verstreut sind. Allzu viel ist nicht bekannt über die ehemaligen Bewohner, man weiß, dass das Familienoberhaupt Bürgermeister der Stadt war und dass zwei der Söhne Geistliche waren, was auch all die Devotionalien erklärt, denen man überall im Gebäude begegnet.

Was wir mit Sicherheit sagen können ist, dass am Ende zwei Brüder der Familie übrig blieben, die gemeinsam in dem großen Haus lebten. Ihre Namen waren Pierre und Etienne. Leider hatte es das Schicksal nicht gut mit ihnen gemeint, denn Etienne starb recht früh auf tragische Weise. Sein Bruder Pierre konnte sich nicht damit abfinden, weiter in demselben Haus zu wohnen. Also verließ er es und lies einfach alles zurück, um die Erinnerung an die schönen Tage mit seinem Bruder aufrecht zu erhalten. Heute lebt Pierre in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft und man sagt, dass er das verlassene Herrenhaus noch immer täglich besucht. Was er dort macht bleibt sein Geheimnis …

We return to Belgium, where last year at Pentecost we were able to visit six really great abendoned places. Our journey begins in a small town in the Ardennes, where an old mansion tells the moving story of two brothers ...

The building probably dates from the 19th century and was the home of a noble family with eight children for decades. In urbex circles the manor house is known as "Manoir aux Portraits", which is not surprising considering the multitude of portraits scattered throughout the building. Too much is not known about the former residents, it is said that the head of the family was mayor of the city and that two of the sons were clergy, which explains all the devotional things that can be encountered throughout the building.

What we can say with certainty is that in the end two brothers of the family remained who lived together in the big house. Their names were Pierre and Etienne. Unfortunately, fate had not meant well with them, for Etienne died tragically early on. His brother Pierre could not put up with living in the same house. So he abandoned it and simply left everything behind to keep the memories of the beautiful days with his brother intact. Today Pierre lives in the immediate vicinity and it is said that he still visits the deserted mansion daily. What he does there remains his secret ...
