Homemade Oatmeal Milk Honey Shower Gel Recipe

Today I’m showing you how to make oatmeal milk & honey shower gel. There’s a reason this combination is used so often & that’s because it’s great for skin. You’ll be amazed at how simple this shower gel is to make & how great it works. Once you make it, there’s no going back to store-bought! A shower gel recipe needs 3 things – a liquid carrier, a thickener, & a surfactant . I'll be using 50 milliliters water as the carrier, 1 gram guar gum as the thickener, & 15 milliliters coco betaine as the surfactant (use ANY surfactant that you want) - all other ingredients are optional & can be customized to suit your needs; add more or less, substitute them, add new ones, or leave some out all together. Either way, your shower gel will still come out wonderful!
RECIPE: 30 grams melted butter (cocoa & Shea), 20 grams honey, 50 milliliters distilled water (or hydrosol), 15 grams milk powder (coconut milk), 15 grams colloidal oatmeal, 1 gram guar gum (or 2 grams xanthan gum), 1 milliliter preservative (Germall Plus), 7.5 milliliters fragrance oil (oatmeal milk & honey & cashmere cedar). 15 milliliters [any liquid] surfactant (coco betaine) + a bit of ground oats & walnut shell powder. For a thinner shower gel, add more water (or less guar gum). You can mix everything with stick blender until, last, slowly stir in the surfactant, little by little. Start with 10 milliliters, then sample it. You can always add more for additional suds & lather. I added 15 milliliters total but could have used less. ***Don’t use the stick blender once the surfactant is added in (everything else added after this point must be stirred in).
ISSUES: If shower gel is too thin, blend 100 milliliters water & 2 grams guar gum together to make a thick jelly emulsion. Fold in a little bit of shower gel at a time into the jelly (***you can’t add the jelly to the shower gel). If shower gel is too thick, add a liquid; like oil, melted butter, water, glycerin, or a surfactant until thin. PACKAGING: You shouldn’t have to buy bottles for this project. Any [squeezable] plastic bottle will do. RESULTS: This shower gel is awesome. It produces lots of suds & lather. QUICK TIP: Use a loofah with looser netting. I tried using a different, smaller loofa (the netting was much tighter & closer together) & it didn’t produce nearly as much suds as this one! Who knew?
SHELF LIFE: I'd say 6 months-1 year!
