The Austin Maxi is one of the most underrated cars of all time, and one of the best to come out of British Leyland.

Alec Issigonis' answer to the Renault 16 was an unfairly maligned but brilliantly designed car.

Correction: The Maxi had a five-speed gearbox before the Renault 16, which only got that option from 1973.
