Annie Walker doesn't want to celebrate her birthday (11 August 1980)
From 11 August 1980. It is Annie Walker's birthday, and she doesn't it to be made a fuss. Especially from Hilda Ogden.
She also doesn't want her age to be revealed. Now this is particularly amusing as Doris Speed was cagy about her age, until a newspaper revealed her true age to be 84 instead of 75 which she claimed. This greatly upset her and she left the show in 1983 after a spate of ill health and a burglary at her home.
After Doris left, I often think how younger she appeared having escaped the relentless schedule. Bless her. She was a one off.
