And in English when we say that you know something like the back of your hand"" it means that you know it really really well. The area that I live in, I've actually lived in for most of my life so I would be able to say that I know this area like the back of my hand. Another good example would be maybe you have a certain kind of car and you really really like fixing it yourself and you've studied a lot about that particular car and now you know the engine of the car like the back of your hand. So in English when we say that you know something like the back of your hand it means you know it really really well.
