A famous example of a Rigid Body
We use a cylinder with mass M, height h and radius a to exemplify the calculation of the matrix of the intertia tensor of a rigid Body. In a previous lesson, we introduced the expressión to calculate the kinetic energy of a rigid body and, therefore, the intertia tensor associated to any rigid body with continuous and discrete distributions of mass. Rigid Bodies is an undispensable topic in classical mechanics so it is very important to study their properties.
