Thanksgiving weekend with Imogen by Joey Mallari

Imogen’s Lolo (grandfather in Filipino), Tito (uncle in Filipino) and cousins drove up from New Jersey to celebrate Thanksgiving with us here in New England. All the little cousins played and ate all day. It’s always great to see the whole Mallari clan together.
I had to work half day during Black Friday. But when I got home we decided to hit up our favorite Nepalese/Indian Restaurant in Boston. Imogen enjoyed a multiple servings of Naan, Saag Paneer and rice pudding for dessert. Stopped by Target to see if we can find any good deals and to start our Christmas shopping. Unfortunately we just end up buying stuff for us and Immy. After shopping we stopped by my brother’s house to hang out with Lolo for the last time before he heads back to New Jersey.
Saturday we decided to drive into the city and grab a quick lunch at Boston Public Market. We’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about the place ever since it opened. I have to tell you I’ve expected a far more elaborate place than what it is. Maybe something similar to Eataly in New York or Reading Terminal Market in Philly.
For the past several years I’ve toyed with the idea of actually getting a real Christmas tree for our house. But never really pulled the trigger. Now that Immy is growing up and finally getting the idea of Christmas and festivities associated with the holiday. I was able to convince my wife to get a real Christmas tree this year and have Immy help decorate it. Drove to Allendale Farm and have Immy pick out a Christmas tree. The place was packed with family picking out their Christmas tree. It was a great family experience for everyone.
