The History and Evolution of Videogame Design - The Game Design Extracts Episode 1
In 1978, a game designer named Tomohiro Nishikado stumbled upon the central principle of videogame design. Things only got more interesting from there. This video examines how videogame design evolved over time, dividing that history into three eras: the arcade era (1978-1985) the composite era (1985-1998) and the set piece era (1998-present).
