The Expanse season 5 is almost here. Amazon released an exclusive clip from the first episode that could show they are moving the end of the story up. The fifth season will be released on December 16th. They have already renewed the series for a sixth season, and they announced that it will be the last. This is making fans wonder if they will conclude the series with the end of the sixth book, or the ending of the whole series.

The new clip features a conversation between James Holden and Fred Johnson on Tycho Station. They are discussing the protomolecule and the artifact that destroyed the builder’s civilization. Holden shows him a simulation that Elvi Okoye made to approximate what she saw when she passed through the bullet that turned off the protomolecule technology on Illus. Fred wants to know if the entities that wiped out the Ring Builders are a threat to humanity.

With the Expanse season 6 being the final season the ending of the TV series is coming. The ninth and final book will be released in 2021 which means it should be availed before the final season. This means the authors Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, who produce and write for the show, could incorporate the book’s ending into the sixth season of the TV show. They would have to cut some of the seventh and eighth books, but this could be possible.
