BIG SHOWER FAILURE...Termites, Fungus, and Mold!!!

Tiled showers are prone to failure because many people don't understand the proper waterproofing techniques needed. This shower had a hot mop on the pan and curb, but the shower leaked from not having any waterproofing, such as redgard or hydroban on the pony wall. The tile was applied right over mortar and drywall. This allowed water to get underneath the tiles and into the wood. Fungus, mold, and termites are then able to feed on the wet wood causing major damage.
My hope is that these videos will help educate homeowners, DIY's, and contractors to build tiled showers that are properly waterproofed.
