With secret Knives for over 500 years, the KUBO couple will keep "Takayama Tea Whisk" on innovating

In the world of tea whisks, a small blade is called a “Knife”.And everything starts with the sharpening of this knife. Aside from the knife which will be used to create the whisks, these other tools have been handmade by different craftsmen for over 500 years.

The popularity of tea whisks is still pretty low. That’s why I would like everyone to know that they are produced here, in the city of Takayama in Nara prefecture. I would like everyone to know about them and pass this tradition to the next generation.

A young man born into a Takayama whisk maker’s household. And his wife, who entered this path with a shared passion. To pass on this 500-year-old tradition, the Kubo couple will keep on innovating with spirit and bring whisk making to the next level.
