"Remembering Devon" | Extended Prison Documentary Interview

Many of you on this channel have watched our full story with teenager Devon (links listed below). A lot happened in Devon's life since that first story was filmed. We therefore think it's important to show everyone the full sit-down interview we conducted with Devon while filming him behind bars. In this extended interview, Devon talks about what he thinks led to all of his problems: drugs. Fights with his family had been the norm and the combination of the two led Devon's mom to kick him out of the house. As he sat in a detention cell waiting for his court hearing, he described the latest crime that landed him behind bars: failing to appear for a bench warrant for a previous offense. When he arrived at the detention facility, his arm was in a sling after being shot by a drug dealer after trying to steal the dealers weed. The cascading series of events led Devon to realize he had to turn his life around soon, and he hoped the judge would give him one last break.

Note: After being released to the custody of his mother at his court hearing, Devon had other brushes with the law. He was sentenced to 6 years in adult prison for burglary, theft and robbery and was released from prison in 2017. Sadly, Devon passed away just 9 months after being released from prison.
