Corinth Canal (Isthmus of Corinth)
The Corinth Canal is an artificial navigable riverbed that connects the Saronic Gulf, in the Aegean Sea, with the Gulf of Corinth, in the Ionian Sea, cutting the isthmus that separates them in two. Built between 1881 and 1893, it has a length of 6,343 meters, a minimum width of 24.6 meters at sea level and a width of 21 meters at a depth of 8 metres, thus limiting passage to medium-sized vessels small (about 10000 t).
