Alicante (Alacant) is a port city, located in the Costa Blanca in Southeastern Spain. The city of Alicante, is now a popular destination for many tourist throughout the year, due to its International Airport and Port.

However, although the Alicante Airport is a popular choice with many tourists visiting the Costa Blanca and its many famous resorts such as Benidorm, Torrevieja,Javea,Calpe to name but a few, the city of Alicante is also a great destinations itself.

The city of Alicante in Spain, has plenty to see and do and is certainly worth a visit. The city itself, has become a great choice for weekend breaks because it is located so close to the airport and has a beach close by.

Airport:

One of the added bonuses of Alicante, is its proximity to the airport. The International Airport ‘Alicante- Elche Airport (ALC)’, is located approximately just 12 Kilometers (7.5 Miles) from the airport. The airport, is also the gateway to many other popular destinations, towns and villages throughout the area and Costa Blanca region.

Old Town:

The old town El Barrio de la Santa Cruz (Casco Antiguo-Santa Cruz) is a favourite with many people. The narrow streets, different coloured houses and vibrant nightlife, attracts many visitors.

Castle:

A prominent landmark in the city, is the castle (Castillo de Santa Bárbara). The castle provide wonderful panoramic views across the city and coast. Access to the castle can be either on foot (which is a steep climb) or you can take the lift to the castle from the old town.

Cruise Port:

The Port of alicante, is a certainly hub in the city, wit lotas going off. The Port is used for both commercial and passenger traffic and is a stop off for many cruise ships. Walking around the Port and marina, makes for a very pleasant experience, with plenty to see and do and provides some great views.

‘San Juan de Alicante’ is a town in the province of Alicante which close to the capital and ‘Playa de San Juan’ is a neighborhood of Alicante. These are two different municipalities.

This beach was formerly called ‘Las Huertas Beach’, its continuation, is ‘Muchavista Beach’ in the municipality of El Campello and the total length is 6.2 km.

San Juan beach, is now a great place to chill out, as it has many bars and restaurants hwere you can enjoy a drink and something to eat, while watching the do go by.
