The Italian aristocrat-turned royal is one of Europe's most fascinating personalities
The Monaco royal who should be on your radar
Meet Beatrice Borromeo, one of the most stylish royals in all of Europe.
Born in Italy in 1985, no one could have known the sweet girl who pursued a career in journalism would one day me a member of the Monegasque royal family.
Now she and her husband, Pierre Casiraghi, grandson to Princess Grace Kelly, have celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary.

Beatrice Borromeo was born on August 18, 1985 and is married to Pierre Casiraghi, the youngest son of Princess Caroline of Monaco and Stefano Casiraghi.
Pierre's uncle is Monaco's ruler, Prince Albert II and his grandmother was film-star turned royal, Grace Kelly.
Casiraghi is competitive sailor and is eighth-in-line to the Monegasque throne.

Monaco's most stylish royal
Beatrice and Pierre married on July 25, 2015, in a civil ceremony in the gardens of the Prince's Palace of Monaco, in front of the who's who of Europe's royal families.
The bride wore four couture dresses throughout her wedding celebrations. For her civil ceremony, Beatrice chose two Valentino gowns.

A week later, a lavish religious ceremony was held on Isolino di San Giovanni part of the Borromean Islands owned by her family in Lake Maggiore, Italy.
The bride wore two new gowns by Armani Privé: a lace dress for the ceremony and later a custom-made silk tulle dress from Armani Privé for the reception held at her family's castle, Rocca d'Angera.
The celebrations were attended by European royalty, Italian aristocracy, key members of the fashion industry and celebrities.

Beatrice Borromeo is an Italian aristocrat and she's even related to a saint.
Her father is Count of Arona, Don Carlo Ferdinando of the ancient house Borromeo, and Countess Donna Paola Marzotto.
Through her father she is related to Carlo Borromeo, who became a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church during the Renaissance, then Archbishop of Milan, and was a canonized saint (St Charles, in English).
Her uncle, Count Matteo Marzotto, is also the former president of fashion house Valentino.

Beatrice has been working as a journalist since she was 19, focusing on "selling stories that people don't really want to hear", she told Glamour magazine in 2016.

Beatrice is also a special envoy for hr for Fashion 4 Development (F4D), a United Nations-affiliated initiative which allows her to advocate for civil and environmental issues.
She is also a documentary maker and has made films focusing on hr, including in the developing world.
"I believe in the power of guilt-shaming people into fixing their own mistakes or taking action," Beatrice says

She's surprisingly down to earth regarding fashion, despite being one of the most glamorous women in the world, frequently topping best-dressed lists. For red-carpet events, of which she attends many, Beatrice wears exclusive pieces by Valentino, Armani Prive, or Chanel.

Beatrice also hates spending her own money on expensive clothes.

Beatrice loves cooking for her husband, Pierre Casiraghi, and says her life isn't as glamorous as everyone thinks.
Referring to Monaco Beatrice says, "I don't live the fancy side of it; that's mostly in the summer. In the winter it's like a small village

She and Pierre have two sons, Stefano Ercole Carlo, born in February 2017 and Francesco Carlo Albert, born in May, 2018.
The couple named their first son Stefano, after Pierre's late father
