The royals of Monaco have a fascinating history. They’re known as the House of Grimaldi, and the French media have coined the phrase the “curse of the Grimaldis”. That’s partly because of the tragic death of Grace Kelly at just fifty-two in a car crash. The glamorous American actress married Monaco’s Prince Rainier III in 1956, and their son Prince Albert II succeeded his father to the throne in 2005. Albert’s own life has been full of intrigue, with two illegitimate children being acknowledged — Jazmin Grimaldi and Alexandre Grimaldi-Coste — before his marriage to former Olympics swimmer Charlene Wittstock in 2011. Their own wedding was plagued by rumors of last-minute cold feet, which were strongly denied by the Palace. Princess Charlene and Prince Albert are now proud parents to twins Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques, and are stronger than ever. But what about their intriguing past? Join The Talko as we go inside the lives of Monaco’s royal family.
