The "OG" of USFF computers | Dell optiplex 760 pc | initial review & test

Yet another 775 machine!

Here is a little pc that I've owned for 5/6 years now. Got it back in 2019/2020 as a pc for studies and its been good to me ever since. It also made for a pretty good machine to try different distros on thanks to having a 64-bit cpu (I was still using a 32 bit atom netbook for testing lol). However, the lack of RAM does seem to show itself even more these days.

Overall condition of the pc is pretty normal for something that came out of a business. It has its fair share of scratches and dings as well as being complemented with thick amounts of dust. Only major annoyance I have with this machine is that the power supply's locking tab has broken off so I have to employ the screwdriver to remove it. :/

Performance is surprisingly good for something with only 4gb of RAM but thats thanks to its high-end (of the time) e8400. When I first got the machine, I did try to stick a q6600 in it for giggles but unfortunetly, Dell were smart with the 755 and 760 which meant that they added a lock to prevent the core 2 quads being used in these newer versions. The 745 however was able to take a c2q without any issues lol.
