2007 Envoy pulls right when braking hard - but it aint the brakes (lower control arm bracket r&r)
So my ruby red princess had this problem where if I was going kinda fast, and hit the brakes kinda hard, she would pull to the right kinda good. It was kinda very ascary. After warming up the brakes and checking the temperatures of the front rotors, it seemed that each side of the front brakes was doing an equal amount of work. A brake inspection revealed nothing out of the ordinary.
So what was going on here? The rear lower control arm bushing on the drivers side was worn out real good. So when the brakes were hit hard, the back of the control arm would move outwards and so would the back of the tire. This made the left front tire "turn" to the right during hard braking.
The lower control arm bushings are in the lower control arm bracket, not the lower control arm. Originally I planned on just swapping out the bushings but I drive this truck every day so I opted to just replace the bracket. Bushing replacement may be shown at a later date. Keep in mind, the caster/camber is adjusted using the bracket, so if your bracket is removed/replaced, the camber/caster will have to be reset. I'm not telling you this for fun, I'm telling you this so you don't chew up your tires from not having the alignment done.
