2004 Tahoe - Rolling the diagnostic dice with a 13 year old TSB (for intermittent P0171/P0174 codes)

After spending a lot of time trying to duplicate/diagnose this intermittent problem with P0171/P0174 codes, I decided to try an old TSB for replacing the intake gaskets with an updated version. This is probably the first time on youtube that I have replaced a part without concrete evidence of the failure. Well, I'll tell you, cars aren't perfect and neither am I. This TSB matched my symptoms and come to find out, the truck had the original intake gaskets. One month and close to 1500 miles later and not a single issue. I'm not suggesting that anyone else just slap intake gaskets on for these codes, I'm showing you that I didn't have a solid answer and this was a calculated risk.

If you have a higher mileage 5.3 Tahoe/Silverado/Suburban (or their GMC/Cadillac cousins) and you're doing these intake gaskets do the oil pressure sensor at the same time. You'll thank yourself later.

I also learned that there is some shadyness on the internet with fake TSB numbers (they are attempting to sell you the information) so the real TSB number is 05-06-04-029A and it can be found for free on the internet.

Oil pressure sensor part number is D1846A (sorry amazon is out of stock as of today).

As shown in the video, the parts are piling up for my Trailblazers 200,000 mile overhaul. Steering, suspension, brakes, driveline, and I might even pop out those cabin filters that have been in there since 2011 or something:)
