Here's why it’s better to build a house instead of buying an existing home. Really, it all boils down to, what’s going to give you the Most VALUE? When looking for a home, a lot of people make the mistake of focusing too much on the price of the house when really, they should focus on the cost. In other words, you need to look past the sales price & consider what the home will cost you in repairs, replacement, utilities & your personal time. Because buying a house will most likely be the largest financial decision you ever make, you’ll really want to focus on quality & gain an understanding of what the true costs is, of buying a house. When you weigh the cost of your time & the money you’ll spend if you purchase an existing home vs building a house, building a home will start to make more sense. Once again, you need to focus on, what’s going to give you the best VALUE. Yes, a newly constructed home might cost 5, 10 or maybe even $15,000 more than an existing home, but if you look at the money you’ll save each month & over time, in most cases, the new home will keep more money in your pocket & you should spend a lot less time doing projects around the house. So, here’s the Top 10 reasons why building a house is better than buying an existing home.
#1 New homes come with a Warranties. Not only will the homebuilder provide their own warranty which will cover most things that go wrong with the home in the first year or two, but also many other components of the home will come with their own warranty.
#2 No repairing or replacing. Everything is new so you’re not going to have to repair or replace anything. Think about the time & money you’ll save by not having to fix & replace things.
#3 Better quality of construction. Houses today are built with the latest & greatest products. And newly constructed homes are built to a higher standard to meet the latest building codes & home building practices.
#4 Energy Efficiency. Many new homes are framed with 2x6 exterior walls instead of 2x4’s. The thicker outer walls allow for more insulation which better shields your house from the outside temperatures.
