What to do when a Warning Message is displayed on an emec Controller

From time to time, warnings may pop up on your emec Controller. This message may be static or it may flash. When a warning message appears it indicates there may be a problem in the control/measurement system. If you want to understand what the messages means and how to clear them (as well as where they are set up) please watch ..
Hi, I'm Larry from CWC. I have with me this morning an emec LD series controller. And I'm going to explain to you what to do when you see a warning message display or flash on the screen. The warning message means that something is wrong, which needs to be rectified.

So the first step is to press the right arrow to highlight the function menu, press enter, go into view status, press enter, which will then give you a status of things like the, the digital outputs, the proportional outfits, the alarm levels, the chemical levels, the flow, standby and delay and cleaning. You may see something flashing on the screen. In which case to clear that you hold the enter button down for five seconds to clear that message, or it might be something simple as in this case where it says flow no, which is probably the cause of that warning message being displayed. So it typically might be a high or low alarm. There might be no flow. It may be also what's called a dose timer alarm, or a maximum feed alarm, which means that one of the outputs that pertains to such as the digital or the proportional output will be flashing. In this case it's not flashing, but if it was, what we do is hold the enter button down for about five seconds, which will clear that warning message. Then press the escape key. Press it again, you go back to the main screen.

I will explain where that setting is programmed so if you go to the setup menu, press enter, enter again and go down to options and press enter, you'll see here there's a setting called T.max dose set to 00 minutes and alarm, and on some controllers that might be set to a time such as 60 minutes. And the alarm might say stop, which means that when the unit is dosing or it's actually activating a pump which is dosing. If the variable such as pH does not reach the set point within that 60 minutes, it will then go into what's called a dose timer alarm, and will latch the pump off in that status until somebody comes and resets it.

So in summary, where one resets that is the function menu, press enter, View status screen. One of the outputs will be flashing. You hold the enter button down for five seconds and the alarm will clear. When you're done you press the escape key twice, and then you have the main screen. In this case you'll see this still flashing, but that's because the alarm in this case is no flow.

This pertains to all the LD series controllers, that is pH, ORP, Chlorine
