Miyajima Island - Japan

Miyajima (宮島) is a small island less than an hour outside the city of Hiroshima. Miyajima is most famous for its giant torii gate, which at high tide seems to float on top of the water. The sight is ranked as one of Japan's three best views and is frequently visited by domestic and foreign tourists.

This video shows some of the mood and atmosphere at the island, where I traveled in October 2012. There's footage of the floating torii gate at high tide, but also of people visiting the gate at low tide. The beautiful forests of the island also get some attention.
