US prepares for all scenarios related to Israel-Hamas war

THE White House is working on contingency planning for "any and all escalation scenarios" following Hamas' attack on Israel, said national security adviser Jake Sullivan said on Tuesday (October 10).

The planning includes deploying a carrier strike group into the eastern Mediterranean "to send a clear message of deterrence" and providing Israel with interceptors for Iron Dome defense systems, according to Sullivan.

Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel on Saturday killing hundreds of Israelis and seizing dozens of hostages. Israel's embassy in Washington said the death toll from Hamas' weekend attacks had surpassed 1,000.
