Civilians flee huge explosion near Gaza hospital in Khan Younis

AN explosion was heard near the Naser Hospital in Gaza's Khan Younis on Thursday (October 19), as Israeli bombardment of Hamas terror targets continued throughout various parts of the enclave.

A state of panic ensued shortly afterwards, as people ran for refuge outside the hospital.

Earlier, Hamas-affiliated Aqsa radio said four Palestinians were killed and several were wounded in the air strike on a house in Khan Younis on Thursday.

In recent events, Hamas' top terror commander has been killed in a separate strike nearby, within Khan Younis.

Ayman Nofal is the most high-profile Hamas militant to be assassinated so far as Israel continues to bombard Gaza with rockets.

More than 3,500 people have been killed in Gaza since Israel launched a campaign of retaliatory bombing, while a blockade that prevents food, fuel and medicine for getting in has created a humanitarian crisis.

This strike follows the recent lethal explosion that erupted at Al-Ahli al-Arabi hospital, where over 500 casualties are predicted.

But Israel has hit back with a furious denial as question marks hang over the cause of the tragedy.

Israeli military chiefs insist the devastation was triggered by a rocket misfired by Hamas allies Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

They claim their terrorist enemies also falsely inflated the casualty figure as tensions boil over in the Middle East region.

Security forces scouring southern Israel believe “dozens” of fighters may be lying low waiting to spring more surprise attacks.
