Elvis Presley: I Shall Not Be Moved
Gospel music was in Elvis Presley's DNA.
As such, it's no surprise that whenever he jammed privately with other entertainers, the repertoire leaned on sacred tunes. James Brown, for example, has wonderful stories of singing old Gospel songs with his "brother".
The most famous of Elvis' private Gospel jams was the Million Dollar Quartet, when on 4 December 1956, at the height of his early fame, he revisited Sun Studios and sang with Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash.
This track, "I Shall Not Be Moved", is a wonderful lo-fi battle between the talents of Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis who share lead vocals.
Turn up the volume and marvel.
