A Room for Lily [PREVIEW536]

6/10/18: Friends and family gathered at Lily Stilwell's recently remodeled home in Fayston last Sunday to celebrate her new space. In October of 2016, Lily was severely injured in a car crash when she was just 19-years-old. This accident left her paralyzed from the waist down and her parent's home was not fit for her new life in a wheelchair. The Mad River Valley community rallied and volunteers came together to renovate a space in her parent's home that was accessible for Lily.

Now 21-years-old, Lily has a job and a home that is built to fit her needs. Not only can she zip around corners, do dishes and cook for herself, but there is room for her classic rock vinyl collection, a wall of plants and space to make art in. Lily gave tours of her new digs to the community members who helped to make it happen, most of whom didn't know the family prior to the project. There were hugs, more than a few tears and lots of laughter too.
