Voice Recognition Tips

Select Kia models offer Voice Recognition.
Here are some tips on how to get the most out of this system:

While the microphone filters out much of the ambient noise around you, to be sure it hears your commands, close the doors … windows … and sunroof and keep background noise to a minimum before speaking your command.

When pressing the VOICE RECOGNITION or TALK button… wait for the Voice Recognition system to BEEP, indicating it’s ready to listen to your command.

Here are some additional tips:
Speak in a natural tone …
Speak without long pauses between words …
Clear, concise pronunciations are helpful …
Use full names …
And when creating your contact list on your phone, never use special characters.
Here’s how you can use Voice Recognition to find a destination:
On the steering wheel, press the TALK button…
When you hear the beep, say your command…
You can say various commands, such as “FIND A GAS STATION” …
You can use Voice Recognition to cancel a route,:
Press the TALK button on the steering wheel and after the beep, say, “CANCEL ROUTE.”
You can also use Voice Recognition to change the audio system – you can switch from AM …
To FM …
To SiriusXM, if equipped …
Or have the system tune to your favorite channel.
To end VOICE RECOGNITION:
say, “Exit” …
or press “Exit” on the voice recognition screen …
Or press the TALK button again.

When connected to your smartphone, press and HOLD the TALK button to activate your phone’s voice recognition to make a call from your contact list.

To improve your voice recognition experience:
On your phone’s Contacts List, use full names – both the first and last names…
Avoid using characters, like “at” or an ampersand…
Also, avoid acronyms…
And spell out words completely.
