My 8 month old shakes his head back and forth like saying "no". Is this normal?

You mentioned that your 8 month old little boy likes to shake his head "no", and you're wondering if this is a cause for concern or not. Around this point in life, babies start to mimic everything we do, and they become very interested in the world around them, and it's very possible that he's seen you do this, and so he's mimicking you. Pay close attention to when he's doing it. If he does it while your having a conversation with him or when you ask him a question, even though he doesn't know what it means, he may just be responding to the things that you're saying to him. And so if it's not random, it's associated with conversation, then that's probably most likely what it is. He's just trying to be like mom and dad. But if it is random, you notice that he does it when he's just sitting there by himself, it just happens at weird times, then it would be worth bringing it up with the pediatrician. They can ask you more specific questions about your observations, and decide if further investigation is warranted. If you have any other questions for me in the future, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page at Facebook.com/IntermountainMoms, and recommend us to your friends and family too.
