Thursday 7 March | LordsQs | House of Lords

At the start of business every sitting day Monday to Thursday, the House of Lords quizzes government on any topic. Government ministers or spokespeople must answer members’ questions, and any member may take part. On Thursday 7 March in #LordsQs, members marked #IWD2019 by asking questions themed around womens’ issues:

- Baroness Jenkin of Kennington asked government what steps it is taking to reduce the risk of female genital mutilation in the UK and internationally (0:00:00)
- Baroness Gale asked government whether it has plans to bring section 106 of the Equality Act 2010 into force (0:08:01)
- Baroness Falkner of Margravine asked government what steps it has taken to increase the number of BME women in Russell Group leadership positions (0:14:59)
- Baroness Hayman asked government whether the Foreign Secretary raised humanitarian assistance for women and girls when he visited Yemen (0:22:57)
