Ngau Chi Wan, a compact cluster of small shops, squatter huts and narrow streets, has been earmarked by the government to make way for public housing and is expected to go within the next decade. Chou Chi-soon, the 73-year-old owner of Po Fook Cafe that openedits doorshalf a century ago in the village, was upset tosay goodbyebut would count it as a “happy retirement”.
