Range Rover P38 # 061 - Keys and Locks

Once upon a time when I was working on the glovebox I accidentally broke the tabs holding the release-wire for the glovebox button so I had to remove the key lock from the old wire to use with the new one. However I was so smart that when I removed the key lock I decided to remove the key afterwards and all the wafers and springs flew all over the place.

I managed to recover all but one spring. But never got around to figuring out how to assemble the wafers so that the key would still work. The lock is matched to the key and it would be nice to continue to do that so I can lock and unlock the glovebox at will.

So today I'm showing you how that's done thanks to videos I found from Bosnianbill, LockLab, LockPickingLawyer and a few others.

You can also use this method to rekey a lock to match for instance your original locks if you replace a door or the ignition key lock.
