It’s all connected! Since Iron Man made his debut on the big screen in 2008, Marvel, Kevin Feige, Jon Favreau and Disney have assured us that everything that occurs within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, from the big headline-grabbing galactic conflicts to the unnamed extra sneezing in the background of a deleted scene, is all part of the same continuity. Everything affects everything else, everybody is in and out of each other’s lives and stories, the shared universe really is a shared universe.
Of course, not even Charlie from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia has enough red thread to connect all those movies, shows and one-offs without dropping a few balls. Yes, inevitably there are inconsistencies, discrepancies, continuity errors and even (to use a loaded and frequently misused phrase) “plot holes”. Hey, what do you expect? This is a complicated business.
