Typhoon Bavi is reaching its peak intensity, one of the few Typhoons to do so in the Yellow Sea. Bavi is expected to begin weakening soon, but will still be a strong typhoon on its closest approach to South Korea, and is forecast to be a typhoon when it makes landfall in either Northwestern North Korea, or in Liaoning, an exceptionally rare occurrence.
