This is an archived stream of our continuous coverage of Hurricane Laura as it made landfall on the early morning hours of August 27, 2020.

Hurricane Laura continues to strengthen in the Gulf of Mexico and is officially a Category 4 hurricane in the Northwest Gulf of Mexico. Hurricane warnings are now in place ahead of the hurricane, which is forecast to make landfall in under imminently in western Louisiana as a powerful major hurricane with winds of 150mph. The time for preparations and evacuations with Laura has been gone for some time now. Anyone near the landfall zone should be doing everything they can to directly protect their lives at this time.

Impacts from Hurricane Laura will be life-threatening and potentially unsurvivable in some locations. These impacts will include: a storm surge of 15-20 feet, rainfall of 10-15 inches that may cause flash flooding, and major hurricane-force sustained winds near the landfall location, with damaging winds extending much further out. The time for preparations and evacuations for Laura is over as conditions are expected to continue to rapidly deteriorate from this point onwards.
