China Builds World’s Costliest Ghost Town in Malaysia: $100 Billion Forest City, Not a Soul in Sight
In the isolated southern waters of Johor, Malaysia, stands a new city. Built on a reclaimed island are dozens of skyscrapers. However, weeds have taken over the unfinished buildings. There are hardly any people at midday. Occasionally, you might see abandoned playgrounds and discarded cars. As night falls, only a few scattered lights illuminate the towering buildings. This is Forest City, a large real estate project developed by one of China's largest property developers, Country Garden. Now, it has another nickname – the most expensive ghost city in the world.
