efflorescence of decadence

To me there's always been a certain beauty in decayed wood. I like to find something forgotten, looked over, discarded, etc. and make something of it. Driftwood in many cases has had a hard go at it. Once a living tree it somehow finds itself in a river, possibly for years and then the ocean (again possibly for years) where it's out in the elements and inevitably in the process of natural decay. This type of decay in some cases can be very interesting to look at. I find myself wondering what it must've went through to get into the shape it's currently in. This weathering and deterioration of the wood can't be artificially recreated or duplicated - but rather it should be celebrated :)
