How being a picker can benefit your art

Being a picker has been extremely beneficial to me as an artist. And it can be beneficial to you too - if it isn't already. I think as artist's, bargain hunting is a very natural part of the artistic process. Most of us can't (or don't want to) spend top dollar on our materials, tools and other things having to do with creating our art. Therefore, hunting for good deals on the things we can use is only natural - plus it's a whole lot of fun.
I buy and sell things for a living and consider my art as more of a hobby and something I love to do rather than a "job". The great thing about the "picking business" is that it meshes well with the art "hobby" but I should add "/business" to that since it would be more accurate. My goal is to always keep the art fun and enjoyable rather than turn it into purely a business venture where it becomes more about the money than the enjoyment of creating it. Therefore getting materials, tools, etc. at great deals is a must and I've always got my eyes open for them.
