What is the Average Cost of Building an ADU (400 sq ft) in Los Angeles & Orange County?
With new 2020 California ADU laws, it's becoming more popular for homeowners and investors to build an ADU out of their garage or backyard. This is a great way to earn some cash flow by renting out a second (or third) unit on your existing property.
A big question to the equation on how big of a return you will make is how much it will cost me to do an ADU project like that? Please note: EVERY PROJECT IS DIFFERENT and nobody can know really what it will cost until they do a full site inspection of your property. This video explains some of the average cost to build ADU's in the LA/OC area (01/01/2020. Cost are always changing in construction). It goes through the following average cost (400 sq ft reference):
- ADU Garage Conversion (400 sq ft)
- Ground up ADU Build (400 sq ft)
- Above the garage ADU addition (400 sq ft)
